Clear and crispvision at all distances

Most IOLs used in cataract surgery are monofocal lenses. They allow patients to see well at a distance, while nearby objects remain out of focus. The Symfony lens was designed specifically to address this issue, allowing patients to enjoy clear and crisp vision no matter where an object is located. In fact, many of our clients are able to stop wearing both distance and reading glasses once their Symfony lenses have been implanted.

The benefits

The Symfony lens has been proven both safe and effective. In clinical studies, the lens has been shown to:

• Deliver enhanced day-to-night vision. Patients with Symfony lenses are able to see objects clearly during the day and at night, whether those objects are near, far or in between.
• Provide high-quality vision. In the past, patients were unsatisfied with their standard IOLs because they were unable to focus due to the shape of the lens and the way light passes through. The Symfony lens was developed to resolve these precise issues and deliver high-quality vision.
• Reduced halo and glare. With traditional IOLs, many patients reported issues with glare and haloes around lights, especially at night. Symfony lenses are not associated with these complications as often.

What to expect during the procedure

The procedure to implant Symfony lenses is fairly straightforward. When you arrive at our Los Angeles facility the day of your surgery, we will begin by prepping you for the procedure and reviewing the details of your treatment. From there, Dr. Benjamin will begin the operation by administering drops or an injection to numb your eyes. If you're very nervous, he may also offer a sedative to help you relax and ensure your comfort.

To perform the actual surgery, the doctor will make a tiny incision on the surface of the cornea. This will allow them to access and carefully remove the clouded lens and implant the Symfony replacement lens. Generally, no sutures are needed to close the incisions as they are self-sealing.

After the procedure, you'll need to spend about 15 to 30 minutes in our recovery room so our staff can monitor your condition. If you appear to be recovering as predicted, you will be free to return home to complete the healing process in the comfort of your own space. However, your doctor will want to see you again within a couple of days to examine your eyes and make sure the healing process is progressing.
